ZHGAS Signs Circulating Fluidized Bed Coal Gasification Project with Luyu Bochuang

Recently, Hefei Zhongke Coal Gasification Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Zhonghe Gasification") signed an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project for a circulating fluidized bed gasifier for a gasification station with Shandong Luyu Bochuang Aluminum Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Luyu Bochuang"). This collaboration focuses on the construction of a gasification station for alumina calcination.

Recently, Hefei Zhongke Coal Gasification Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Zhonghe Gasification") signed an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project for a circulating fluidized bed gasifier for a gasification station with Shandong Luyu Bochuang Aluminum Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Luyu Bochuang"). This collaboration focuses on the construction of a gasification station for alumina calcination.


Shandong Luyu Bochuang Aluminum Co., Ltd. was established in 2018 and is located in the Lubei High-tech Development Zone, Wudi County, Binzhou City, Shandong Province. Leveraging its advantageous access to sea ports and utilizing high-quality overseas bauxite resources, Luyu Bochuang employs advanced low-temperature Bayer process technology to produce metallurgical-grade alumina. Its current production capacity stands at 800,000 tons per year.


The project plans to construct one 40,000 Nm3/h circulating fluidized bed gasifier to provide heat energy for the alumina calcination furnace. Once the project is operational, it is expected to significantly reduce fuel gas costs, thereby lowering alumina production costs.


CFB coal gasification technology boasts core advantages such as strong adaptability to various coal types, low energy consumption and cost, high overall energy efficiency, low emissions of waste (gas, water, and solid waste), and high technical reliability. It has been selected by the National Platform for the Transformation of Ecological and Environmental Scientific and Technological Achievements for its outstanding features, including economic viability, significant energy savings, and environmental friendliness. It is recognized and supported as a clean and highly efficient coal utilization technology. As the industrialization platform for the Chinese Academy of Sciences' "Hongguang Special Project: Industrialization of Circulating Fluidized Bed Coal Gasification Technology," ZHGAS has successfully implemented the commercial application of CFB technology in industrial fields such as coal-to-syngas and coal-to-clean gas. It has also completed a number of high-quality demonstration projects that yield significant economic, social, and environmental benefits. Moving forward, it will continue to promote the application of CFB coal gasification technology across various sectors, leading technological innovation in the industry, providing clean energy solutions for enterprises, and contributing to the high-quality development of the coal chemical and environmental protection industries.
