Recently, CAS Hefei Coal Gasification Technology Co., Ltd. (ZHGAS) signed an EPC contract with Guangxi Longzhou Xinxing Eco-Aluminum Co., Ltd. for the construction of a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) coal gasifier unit. The partnership focuses on developing a gas supply station to support alumina calcination.
Located in Longzhou County, Chongzuo City, Guangxi Province, Longzhou Xinxing operates a 1-million-ton-per-year alumina production facility. To reduce fuel gas costs, ZHGAS has designed a solution using a blended feedstock of low-cost Indonesian lignite and domestic bituminous coal. The project will deploy two CFB pulverized coal gasifiers, each with a capacity of 50,000 Nm3/h, to supply fuel gas for the calcination process. Once operational, the project is expected to significantly reduce fuel costs and improve overall production efficiency.
Fuel gas is a key energy source for industrial kilns and is widely used in sectors such as building materials, non-ferrous metallurgy, ceramics, and glass. Lowering gas production costs is essential to controlling final product pricing, and raw coal accounts for over 80% of those costs. CFB gasification technology enables the use of low-rank coal, high-ash and high-sulfur coal, and mixed coals, resulting in substantial cost savings.
