On March 5, 2026, a delegation led by Yu Tao, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Xinxing Economic and Technological Development Zone, Xinxing City, the 13th Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and Yu Kuangshi, General Manager of CAS Hefei Coal Gasification Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "ZHGAS"), visited the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Chongqing University. The two sides held an exchange and discussion on matters including industrial cooperation in carbon-based new materials, magnesium-based new materials and other related fields.Chen Xianhua, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Chongqing University, along with other college leaders, experts and professors, warmly received the visiting delegation and participated in the exchange and discussion.

At the symposium, the three parties held in-depth exchanges on key topics including industry-university-research collaborative innovation, the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and talent training.Dean Chen Xianhua extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation of ZHGAS, and introduced the School’s profound research accumulation and outstanding achievements in the field of materials science, especially in the research on magnesium alloy materials. He stated that the School would, relying on scientific research platforms such as the National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys and Mingyue Lake Laboratory, give full play to its research strengths in the field of magnesium alloy materials, and looked forward to carrying out in-depth cooperation with ZHGAS in the development of magnesium-based new materials, comprehensive utilization of resources and other related areas.
Yu Kuangshi, General Manager of ZHGAS, gave a detailed introduction to the industrial layout and development plans of the Company and Xinjiang Cas Energy Technology Co., Ltd.He pointed out that, as the industrialization platform for the circulating fluidized bed (CFB) coal gasification technology of the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, ZHGAS has accumulated abundant technological achievements and extensive engineering experience in the fields of clean and efficient coal utilization, biomass gasification, carbon-based solid waste disposal, as well as the R&D and production of high-end activated carbon. Xinjiang CAS Energy Technology Co., Ltd. has completed the construction of the "Coal-based Activated Carbon Production Project with Co-production of LNG from Carbonization Tail Gas" in Hami, establishing an annual production capacity of 66,000 tons of activated carbon and 100,000 tons of LNG, which has laid a solid foundation for extending the industrial chain and developing carbon-based and magnesium-based new materials.

Yu Tao, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Xinxing Economic and Technological Development Zone, Xinxing City, the 13th Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, introduced the resource advantages and industrial development layout of Xinxing City.He stated that Xinxing City, known as "the Throat of the Western Regions", is a key gateway connecting Xinjiang to China's inland regions. It is endowed with abundant mineral resources including coal, dolomite and fluorite, as well as ample wind and solar green power resources, and possesses a sound foundation for the development of industries such as chemical engineering, metallurgy and new materials. In recent years, the Development Zone has actively rolled out its industrial layout centering on key development directions including clean and efficient coal utilization and magnesium-based new materials, promoting the diversified and clustered development of the industries.ZHGAS possesses mature technologies and proven engineering capabilities in areas including coal-based activated carbon production, LNG co-production and biomass gasification, while the completed and commissioned projects of Xinjiang Cas Energy Technology Co., Ltd. have laid a solid foundation for the subsequent extension of the industrial chain. The Development Zone will go all out to provide full policy support and service guarantees, and foster a sound environment for the implementation of follow-up cooperative projects. It looks forward to taking this exchange as an opportunity to promote the in-depth integration of industry-university-research, and jointly set a new benchmark for the coordinated development of regional industries.
Chongqing University holds an internationally leading position in the field of magnesium alloy research, and boasts the National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys, a national-level scientific research platform. The three parties unanimously agreed that, by leveraging ZHGAS's proven industrial project implementation capacity, Xinjiang's resource endowments and Chongqing University's scientific research strengths, their cooperation enjoys broad prospects. Going forward, the three parties will give full play to their respective strengths, carry out strategic cooperation centered on the full industrial chain of magnesium-based new materials, jointly promote the upgrading of the magnesium industry towards green, high-end and intelligent development, and inject new impetus into the high-quality development of China's new materials industry.
This exchange has laid a solid foundation for the subsequent in-depth cooperation among the three parties.Going forward, ZHGAS will continue to uphold the philosophy of "Technology Leadership, Industry Empowerment", join hands with Chongqing University and other leading scientific research institutions, and rely on the abundant resource endowments and solid industrial foundation of Xinxing City to drive industrial innovation through scientific and technological innovation. It will build an exemplary model of industry-university-research collaborative innovation in the fields of carbon-based new materials and magnesium-based new materials, and contribute to the green transformation of China's energy structure and the high-quality development of the country's materials industry.
